Unfortunately, the initial foray into the business world was met with significant challenges. For the first two years, the business struggled, a testament to the steep learning curve faced by those navigating the entrepreneurial landscape without guidance. Adding to the difficulty was the stark reality of affording professional help. The average business coaching session, priced between $75 and $300 per hour, felt like an insurmountable barrier. The discouragement was palpable, with some suggesting that the inability to afford coaching meant the inability to afford the dream itself.

But that didn’t extinguish the fire. In the midst of those early struggles, our founder made a pivotal decision: to arm herself with knowledge. She embarked on an intensive academic journey, ultimately earning three distinct business degrees – a Bachelor’s, a Master’s, and a Doctorate in Business. This education provided the framework and strategic insights needed to finally get the business off the ground and, eventually, achieve enough success to leave full-time employment and dedicate herself entirely to her entrepreneurial pursuit.

It was through this challenging personal experience that the core mission of CYL Consulting took shape. Having navigated the often isolating and financially straining early stages of business ownership, our founder became deeply committed to preventing others from having to endure the same level of struggle. Thus, CYL Consulting was established as a small business coaching and consulting firm with a fundamental difference: accessibility.
